RRI.CO.ID, Bogor – Bogor Regent, Rudy Susmanto, has established a policy to strengthen the region's environmental sustainability through a Regent's Instruction regarding the accelerated planting of one hectare of urban forest in every subdistrict in Bogor Regency, West Java, signed in late 2025.

This policy serves as a direct response to the growing challenges of climate change. The local administration aims to enhance ecosystem resilience while ensuring sustainable carbon emission control.

The instruction is backed by a clear regulatory framework, including spatial planning mandates and carbon economic value policies. This move is also based on the 2025 regional development evaluation to prepare for full implementation in 2026.

All regional apparatuses have been assigned specific roles according to their respective functions. The Regional Secretary has been appointed as the lead coordinator to oversee execution and forge partnerships with strategic stakeholders.

The Environmental Agency is responsible for technical assistance and field evaluations. Subdistrict heads are required to provide a minimum of one hectare of land within their jurisdictions and secure funding support through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) schemes.

To ensure effectiveness, a dedicated supervisory agency model has been implemented for each Subdistrict.

“This program is a collective movement. I instruct all elements to prioritize the principle of mutual cooperation, so that Bogor Regency returns to being green and sustainable,” remarked Bogor Regent, Rudy Susmanto, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Tree planting is set to commence in early 2026, with the peak of the simultaneous activities scheduled for June 5, 2026, coinciding with World Environment Day. The selected tree species include fast-growing plants, indigenous species, and trees with high economic and conservation value. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
