RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Personnel from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade Corps were deployed on Thursday, January 29, 2026, to evacuate residents trapped by rising floodwaters in Kedaung Kali Angke, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

A notable rescue took place at Jalan Pesing Poglar, where the narrow alleys of Gang Pribadi rendered rescue boats unusable. As a result, Mobile Brigade Corps officers had to manually carry an ailing resident on their backs to reach safe ground.

"The SAR (Search and Rescue) team from the Gegana Detachment successfully evacuated a resident suffering from health issues amidst the flood conditions," said the Commander of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade Corps, Sr. Com. Henik Maryanto, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Despite the logistical challenges of limited access and floodwaters reaching waist-deep, the evacuation was completed successfully. The rescued resident was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

"The water level earlier reached adult waist-height, though it has now begun to recede," added Henik.

As a specialized unit on permanent standby for emergencies, the Gegana personnel continue to patrol residential areas. These sweeps aim to ensure public safety and mitigate further risks posed by the ongoing floods.

Beyond rescue operations, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Mobile Brigade Corps are also securing and directing traffic on several waterlogged roads to ensure order and public safety. Henik emphasized that any threat to public safety is a top priority for the unit.

"The presence of personnel at disaster sites is a tangible form of the National Police's devotion to protecting and serving the community," he remarked.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Sr. Com. Budi Hermanto, confirmed that Mobile Brigade Corps units remain on high alert for SAR operations across the capital.

"This is a testament to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s commitment to being present and serving the community during times of need," concluded Budi Hermanto.
