RRI.CO.ID, Bekasi City - High-intensity rainfall from the early hours of Thursday, January 29, 2026, has once again submerged several residential areas in Kayuringin Village, South Bekasi, Bekasi City, West Java.

Among the affected locations are the Jati Unggul and Keuangan housing complexes, where floodwaters have reached depths ranging between 30 and 40 centimeters.

Residents were observed moving valuables to higher ground, with many prioritizing the relocation of motorcycles and cars to prevent water damage.

Reza, a local resident, noted that the flooding was caused by relentless rain that had not subsided since dawn. He explained that the excess water is struggling to flow into the Kalijati Canal, the primary drainage artery for the area.

"The rain hasn't stopped since last night. Consequently, the Kalijati Canal is at full capacity, causing the water to back up and flood the housing complexes," said Reza on Thursday, January 29, 2026..

The inundation has also forced local educational institutions to suspend activities. Kayuringin Jaya 16 Public Elementary School, an elementary school located within the affected area, was officially closed for the day.

Students expressed their disappointment over the disruption. "I’d rather be at school so I can learn and meet my friends," said Cantika and Luna, two local students. "But because of the floods, school is off."

Reports indicate that the flooding is not localized to Kayuringin Village alone. Several other residential pockets across Bekasi are facing similar conditions due to the ongoing extreme weather. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
