RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang – The Indonesian Tourism Ministry has officially designated the Cisadane Festival in Tangerang City as part of the Top 125 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2026. This prestigious status was awarded following a rigorous curation process involving hundreds of cultural agendas from across the archipelago.

The announcement was made by the Tourism Minister, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, as part of the national calendar for premier events in 2026. Boyke Urif Hermawan, Head of the Tangerang City Culture and Tourism Agency, conveyed that this recognition serves as a testament to the festival's consistency as a leading cultural tourism destination.

"This designation proves that the Cisadane Festival is considered one of the finest cultural events in Indonesia. It is more than mere entertainment, it is a people's celebration that the community eagerly anticipates every year," remarked Boyke on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

He explained that the festival's strength lies in its diverse cultural content, which has been meticulously preserved. The acculturation of local traditions is the primary hallmark that distinguishes it from other events.

"The Cisadane Festival features the signature dragon boat races of the Cina Benteng culture, artistic performances staged atop the Cisadane River, MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) bazaars offering Tangerang’s unique culinary delights, and digital innovations designed to engage the younger generation," he added.

Boyke further noted that the festival provides a tangible boost to the local economy. Thousands of annual visitors drive growth in the MSME sector, tourism, and supporting services.

"Last year, attendance reached approximately 68,000 visitors, with an estimated economic turnover of IDR 4.6 billion (approximately USD 287,500). With its inclusion in the Top 125 KEN 2026, we hope to see these figures rise," he said.

The Tangerang City Administration aims for the Cisadane Festival to remain an annual cultural fixture that not only strengthens regional identity, but also provides economic benefits to the local community.

"This award motivates us to continuously improve the quality of the Cisadane Festival so that it gains even broader recognition," concluded Boyke. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
