RRI.CO.ID, Kuta - The Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel in Kuta, Bali, has taken a proactive step to safeguard its coastal environment against the backdrop of the Island's seasonal transition from dry to rainy months.

Partnering with Artha Graha Peduli, the hotel organized a large-scale beach clean-up, underscoring how collective action can help mitigate the environmental challenges brought by ocean currents and extreme weather.

The clean-up, conducted on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. local time, involved the hotel management and staff from all departments. They gathered at the Beach Gate area before dispersing along the shoreline and hotel perimeter.

Their mission was simple yet impactful: to restore cleanliness and safety for both guests and the local community.

In just two hours, participants collected approximately two tons of waste, ranging from tree branches and wood fragments to plastic debris, beverage bottles, and assorted packaging materials swept ashore by seasonal tides.

January marks the onset of Bali’s rainy season, often accompanied by extreme weather and heightened health risks. By removing waste and debris, the initiative not only improved the hotel’s surroundings but also contributed to a healthier environment, enhancing comfort for visitors and residents alike.

The clean-up reflects Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel’s commitment to Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese philosophy that emphasizes harmony between people, nature, and spirituality. This cultural foundation reinforces the hotel’s broader vision of environmental care and social responsibility.

General Manager of Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Luis Daniel Garcia, highlighted the spirit behind the initiative. “Environmental responsibility is not only part of our operational values but also a shared commitment among our entire team," he said in a statement released by the hotel on Friday, January 23, 2026.

"By working together, we hope to create a positive impact on our surroundings while supporting a cleaner, healthier coastal environment for future generations,” the General Manager added.

The strong participation and enthusiasm of the hotel’s staff demonstrated a deep dedication to sustainability and community engagement. Such initiatives serve as a reminder that environmental stewardship is most effective when embraced collectively, particularly during seasonal transitions that demand heightened awareness.

Located in the heart of Kuta, Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel is a heritage five-star oceanfront property inaugurated in 1990. Spanning 10 hectares with an integrated hotel and shopping mall concept, it offers 316 rooms, suites, and villas featuring Balinese furnishings and views of gardens and the Indian Ocean.

Other hotel facilities include three restaurants, four bars, Discovery Spa and health clHub, indoor and outdoor kids’ clubs, five conference rooms, and multiple outdoor venues. ***
