RRI.co.id, Jakarta – The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has heightened its readiness in response to widespread flooding across multiple areas of the capital. The floods were triggered by heavy rains that battered Jakarta and its surroundings since Thursday, January 22, 2026.

In a written press release, as of Friday morning, January 23, 2026, BPBD reported that flooding has inundated 125 neighborhood units (RT) and submerged 14 road segments in Jakarta. Affected areas span West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta.

Jakarta Provincial BPBD Head, Isnawa Adhi, conveyed that personnel have been deployed to monitor flooding conditions in every impacted zone. "BPBD is also coordinating with relevant agencies to conduct water pumping operations and ensure optimal functioning of drainage systems and waterways," he said.

In West Jakarta, flooding has submerged 38 RTs across various subdistricts, including Duri Kosambi, Kapuk, Rawa Buaya, and Kedoya. Water levels range from 15 centimeters to 150 centimeters, caused by high rainfall and river overflows.

Meanwhile, South Jakarta has seen the highest number of affected RTs, totaling 55. Flooding there stems from heavy rains and overflows from the Krukut, Pesanggrahan, Mampang, and Ciliwung Rivers.

In East Jakarta, 30 RTs are flooded, particularly in Cipinang Melayu, Melayu Hamlet, and Bidara Cina. Overflows from the Ciliwung River and Sulaiman Connecting Channel have exacerbated ponding in these areas.

In North Jakarta, flooding has affected two RTs in Kapuk Muara Subdistrict, with water depths around 40 centimeters. BPBD continues intensive monitoring in coastal regions.

Beyond residential areas, floods have also inundated 14 major roads, disrupting traffic flow. BPBD urges motorists to exercise caution and seek alternative routes.

The agency has prepared evacuation sites for flood-affected residents, prioritizing vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. These sites are located in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and East Jakarta.

The public is advised to remain vigilant against potential follow-up flooding, given the continued high rainfall intensity. In emergencies, residents should contact the 24-hour emergency line at 112.
