Mobile Library Ready to Serve Schools and Administration Agencies

RRI.CO.ID, Sungailiat – The Bangka Regency Archives and Library Agency in Bangka Belitung Islands is optimizing the role of its Mobile Library by encouraging Regional Administration Agencies (OPD) and schools to take a proactive role in requesting its services.

Mina, Head of the Bangka Regency Archives and Library Agency, explained that the Mobile Library offers more than just a fleet equipped with diverse book collections, but also provides various services tailored to specific needs. These include storytelling sessions, professional guidance for library managers, and other literacy-related programs.

“We hope schools will be proactive in these activities. We plan to create promotional videos of these sessions to socialize the program to other schools, ensuring they are aware that our initiatives are now reaching educational institutions,” said Mina on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Previously, the Archives and Library Agency acted as the primary driver in scheduling visits. They are now shifting strategy by inviting stakeholders to request the Mobile Library to boost local literacy.

“We are now prioritizing a 'request-based' approach. We invite school administrators to request our Mobile Library services. We also hope government agencies will invite us, these services are provided free of charge,” she said.

In a related statement, the Regional Secretary of Bangka, Thony Marza, emphasized that the culture of reading in Bangka Regency must be continually instilled, particularly among the younger generation. He noted that it is a challenge for local administrations, down to the subdistrict and village levels, to develop libraries that are engaging and attractive to visit.

“We expect subdistrict heads, village heads, and all related stakeholders to be able to stimulate this interest in reading. Through reading and writing, we enhance our analytical skills toward the phenomena we encounter in our daily lives,” remarked Thony Marza. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
