RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang – The Tangerang Regency Agriculture and Food Security Agency (DPKP) in Banten Province reports that 804 hectares of rice fields across the region have been submerged by floods. The inundation has begun to impact local food security, with several areas already reporting total crop failure.

Bambang, the Head of Food Production and Horticulture at the Tangerang DPKP, conveyed that the latest data confirms 804 hectares of agricultural land have been affected by the standing water.

According to Bambang, the submerged fields are spread across 15 subdistricts, which are Tigaraksa, Cisoka, Panongan, Jayanti, Balaraja, Sindang Jaya, Rajeg, Jambe, Sukadiri, Pakuhaji, Kronjo, Kresek, Kemiri, Mauk, and Sukamulya.

Administratively, the affected land spans 39 villages. The majority of the submerged crops consist of the Inpari, Ciherang, and Mekongga rice varieties.

"Cisoka Subdistrict is among the hardest hit, specifically Carenang Village, where 107 hectares of rice fields are underwater," noted Bambang on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

He further explained that out of the total affected area, approximately 29 hectares have been declared crop failure due to prolonged submersion. This condition poses a threat to local food production levels if mitigation efforts are not expedited.

In response to the crisis, the Tangerang Regency Administration has officially declared a state of emergency. This decision follows the expansion of floodwaters, which have now reached 24 subdistricts across the regency.

Ahmad Taufik, Head of the Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), conveyed that the emergency status was enacted following an evaluation of the flood's data and geographical scope. The disaster has persisted since Sunday, January 11, 2026.

"We are issuing the emergency status based on the potential for continued high intensity rainfall and the expanding impact of the floods. The administration must remain proactive in light of the weather forecasts provided by the BMKG (Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency)," said Ahmad Taufik on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
