KBRN, Bekasi City: The Bekasi City Administration, West Java has reaffirmed its full support for the accelerated growth of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem within the city. This step aims to promote clean energy and environmental sustainability.

This commitment was highlighted by the official inauguration of the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) Center at the state-owned power company PT PLN Customer Service Delivery Unit (UP3) Bekasi. The Mayor of Bekasi, Tri Adhianto, personally attended the ceremony to lead the inauguration on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Mayor Tri Adhianto expressed his appreciation to PLN UP3 Bekasi for its contribution to providing EV infrastructure. He noted that this step aligns with local administration efforts to reduce carbon emissions and foster a healthier environment.

"The construction of this SPKLU demonstrates that Bekasi City is ready to support the adoption of electric vehicles. These facilities are vital to ensuring the public feels confident and comfortable in transitioning to eco-friendly transportation," said the Mayor during his keynote address.

Tri added that the expansion of SPKLUs is not merely about facilities, but is part of the city’s broader transformation toward a more modern and efficient future. He emphasized that the Bekasi City Administration will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders, including PLN, to expand the EV ecosystem.

"We want Bekasi to be a city that is adaptive to change. The local administration will continue to support infrastructure development that aligns with our efforts to protect the environment and improve the community's quality of life," he said.

Firman Sodikin, Manager of PLN UP3 Bekasi, conveyed that the presence of this SPKLU Center is a testament to PLN's commitment to supporting the EV ecosystem in the region.

Looking ahead, PLN UP3 Bekasi plans to add more SPKLU Centers at several strategic locations, including Summarecon Bekasi, which is targeted for operation by February or March 2026.
