KBRN, Sanur: The 18th Sanur Village Festival (SVF), held over three days, attracted approximately 40,000 visitors and generated IDR 1 billion (approximately USD 60,040) in economic turnover from activities across the Sanur area.

Chairman of the Sanur Development Foundation (YPS), Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra, popularly known as Gusde, said this year’s SVF continued to integrate diverse elements, including culture, social engagement, culinary showcases, and the arts.

“We’re combining many aspects. Few festivals bring together cultural and social events with added features, such as barista showcases and wood carving. The enthusiasm is remarkable,” Gusde said during an interview on the final day of the event, Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Although the venue was smaller than in previous years, public enthusiasm remained strong. “We still accommodated food vendors, though there were fewer SMEs. Daily attendance ranged from 10,000 to 15,000, so over three days, it reached around 40,000,” he said.

Gusde noted that domestic tourists dominated the crowd, but international visitors accounted for roughly 30 percent. “It’s a mix, about 30 percent are tourists. Sanur is a major tourist area, with many villas and hotels nearby,” he explained.

He added that European tourists made up the largest share of foreign visitors, as the festival coincided with winter in Europe. This year marked the first time SVF was held in November, deviating from its usual schedule in August or October.

Gusde described the date shift as a strategic move to attract tourists during the low season. “Previously, we offered added value to guests staying during the peak season. Now, we’re testing whether the festival can draw visitors during the low season. This is our first attempt,” he said.

He acknowledged that preparations were relatively brief, just two weeks, highlighting the need for earlier planning and promotion in future editions. Despite the short lead time, the festival significantly boosted hotel occupancy in Sanur.

“There’s been notable interest from the Dutch market. Many asked about Sanfest and were confused about the date change,” he said.

Hotel occupancy during the festival rose to around 75 percent. “In the low season, it’s usually between 65 and 70 percent. This time, it likely reached 75 percent,” Gusde added.

Regarding economic impact, he estimated a turnover of IDR 1 billion. “When we run at full speed for five days, we usually generate around IDR 2 billion. Since this year’s event was shorter, the figure is about half,” he said.

Renowned band Yovie & Nuno closed the 2025 Sanur Village Festival with a lively performance on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

Public enthusiasm and participation from MSMEs remain high. “As soon as we launch Sanfest, vendor slots sell out immediately. Sometimes there’s competition for them. The crowd we attract drives strong sales,” he said.

Gusde emphasized that SVF continues to serve as a benchmark community event in Bali, thereby reinforcing the tourism and creative economy. “We should keep this going. The benefits, for tourism, the creative economy, community solidarity, and simply enjoying this space with family and friends, are substantial,” he said.

The renowned band Yovie & Nuno closed the festival with a lively performance. For next year’s edition, YPS is preparing a theme inspired by current social phenomena.

“We usually base our theme on social issues. Last year, we selected Asta Brata Swari, based on the eight leadership traits, in connection with the presidential election. This year, we’re focusing on the village’s contributions. Hopefully, we’ll launch the theme early next year,” Gusde concluded. (Misni Parjiati/Ed. Lasti Martina)
