KBRN, Buton Selatan: The South Buton Regency Administration, in collaboration with the floating hospital dr. Lie Dharmawan II and the nonprofit foundation Doctor Share, has launched a free medical service program for local residents. The initiative officially runs from October 21 to 23, 2025, at Bandar Batauga Port.
The services offered include surgical consultations, general medicine, dental care, and basic laboratory tests. A joint team of medical professionals from the floating hospital, the local Health Agency, the regional hospital (RSUD), and community health centers (Puskesmas) are mobilized to reach residents who lack access to healthcare financing.
Acting Regional Secretary La Ode Harwanto emphasized that this collaboration reflects the government's and philanthropic partners’ commitment to serving low-income communities. He acknowledged that many South Buton residents are still not covered by the national health insurance program (BPJS Kesehatan), and this initiative ensures they can access healthcare without financial burden.
“We hope the people of South Buton take advantage of these three days to receive free medical care, so they can recover and return to their daily activities,” he said.

She reaffirmed that the program is part of Doctor Share’s nonprofit mission.
“We initially planned to bring obstetricians, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they couldn’t attend. So for pregnant women seeking checkups, we can only provide care through general practitioners,” she noted.
Dr. Mieke expressed hope that the services would run smoothly and deliver meaningful benefits to the community. She also extended appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the free medical initiative.

“For follow-up care, we’ve prepared services at Puskesmas and RSUD. We’re prioritizing low-income residents, and for those without BPJS Kesehatan, we’ll assist with registration,” he explained.
Public enthusiasm for the free health services was high, with over 400 people registering on the first day. Medical services aboard dr. Lie Dharmawan II are available daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. (Annaila Syafa/Sri Wahyuni)
