KBRN, Palangka Raya: The Central Kalimantan Provincial Administration has received and deployed 71 medical and health personnel under a special assignment program from the Indonesian Healthy Ministry. It is aimed at immediately addressing the critical shortage and maldistribution of health workers in the region's most challenging areas.

The official handover ceremony for this Period II special assignment took place at the Bakti Husada Hall of the Provincial Health Agency on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

The event, which was conducted both in-person and virtually, was opened by the Secretary of the Provincial Health Agency, Rainer Danny P. Mamahit. The assignment program is part of the central administration’s strategy to fill vacancies, particularly in areas designated as Disadvantaged, Remote, and Outermost (DTPK) and those with Health Problems (DBK).

“This special assignment is a short-term solution to meet the need for health workers at community health centers. It focuses especially on areas with limited access to primary health services due to challenges like geographical conditions, topography, transportation, communication access, and other social factors,” said Rainer Danny, as quoted from infopublik.id.

He added that Central Kalimantan continues to face a significant deficit of medical and health personnel. Therefore, this program is expected to fulfill that need, particularly in areas that have yet to receive optimal health services.

The second period of the program brings a total of 71 health personnel from various disciplines, who will be placed across 11 regencies in Central Kalimantan. The personnel pool includes 5 general practitioners, 12 dentists, 15 dental and oral therapists, 20 environmental health workers, 7 public health workers, 1 pharmacy worker, 4 medical laboratory technology experts, and 7 nutritionists.

"We thank the Indonesian Health Ministry for the support and implementation of this program. Thanks also to the heads of the subdistrict/city health offices and their staff for their commitment and participation," Rainer Danny added.

He expressed hope that synergy among the central government, local administration, and all health stakeholders would continue to improve, optimizing human resources and enhancing the quality of public health services.

Closing the ceremony, Rainer Danny advised the newly assigned health workers to carry out their duties with full responsibility and to immediately adapt to the local environment and culture. Additionally, they were asked to establish good communication with the institutions and local administrations in their assigned areas. ***
