KBRN, Jakarta: Thousands of runners participated in the BAF Lions Run 2025 "Run for Children" held at the East Parking area of Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The event was a collaborative effort between the Lions Indonesia Foundation (YLI) and PT Bussan Auto Finance (BAF) dedicated to sharing goodwill and charity.

The physical race saw approximately 3,500 participants from running communities and the general public, competing across three categories: the 2.5K Fun Run, 5K Race, and 10K Race.

Furthermore, more than 6,000 runners were recorded to have joined the 21K virtual race, which ran from July 23 to August 24, 2025. Participant enthusiasm was also evident from successful pre-event roadshows held in various cities across Indonesia.

Solida Abdy Ramly, Chairperson of the BAF Lions Run 2025 Committee, remarked that the event’s purpose goes beyond simply encouraging people to run. It also serves as a platform for participants to donate toward the development of the Lions Transit Home (Rumah Singgah Lions), which provides temporary shelter for children battling cancer.

"With the tagline #SetiapLangkahBerarti (Every Step Matters), public interest in supporting this charity run is very high. As of today, we have received donations totaling over IDR 425,000,000 (approximately USD 25,600) from BAF Lions Run 2025 participants," announced Solida.

Solida added that all donation proceeds will be handed over to YLI to ensure the expansion of the Lions Transit Home facilities can be implemented. Solida also expressed gratitude for BAF's commitment through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which focuses on child welfare.

Beyond its role as the title sponsor, BAF also contributed a cash donation of IDR 200,000,000 (approximately USD 12,050). This donation supports the Childhood Cancer program carried out by YLI alongside Lions Club Indonesia.

Alung Ng, Managing Director of BAF, expressed his satisfaction with the annual collaboration. “We are delighted that the BAF Lions Run can be realized every year thanks to the cooperation and collaboration of various parties. This event is a clear demonstration of BAF’s concern for children fighting cancer,” he remarked.

Alung highlighted the positive impact of BAF's six-year partnership with YLI through this event, which has benefited 85,500 children and adolescents across Indonesia.

Peter C Djajadi, Chairman of the Lions Indonesia Foundation and the event organizer, commended the committee for their hard work in promoting the run, noting that this year's participant number exceeded the set target.

"Aside from being aware of the importance of exercise, the community's desire to help the families of child cancer fighters also has a positive impact. We run not just for our own health, but also as a form of solidarity for those in need," concluded Peter. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
