MotoGP Mandalika 2025 Generates IDR 4.8 Trillion in Economic Impact

KBRN, Lombok: The Indonesian MotoGP held at Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), from October 3–5, 2025, is estimated to have generated an economic impact of IDR 4.8 trillion ((USD 288 million), according to Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Enik Ermawati.

“This is an extraordinary outcome. From what I observed, hotels in the area were fully booked. Even my own team struggled to find accommodation,” Ni Luh said during a visit to ITDC-supported MSMEs at Mandalika Circuit on Sunday, October 5.

She added that even the hotel operated by Lombok’s Polytechnic of Tourism (Poltekpar) was at full capacity. “Thankfully, we have Poltekpar Lombok. I asked the Director, and even the hotel there was full,” she noted.

Beyond hotels, transportation services were also overwhelmed. Garuda Indonesia increased its flight frequency on the Jakarta–Lombok route, while flights from Bali to Lombok were fully booked. In some cases, InJourney staff traveling from Bali had to take ferries due to the lack of available flights.

“This shows the tremendous enthusiasm from the public and tourists for MotoGP Mandalika. The multiplier effect is truly remarkable, with an estimated IDR 4.8 trillion in circulation during the event,” Ni Luh said.

She also praised the 2025 edition as the best MotoGP Indonesia event to date, surpassing previous iterations since the championship debuted in Mandalika in 2022. “There are still a few points for evaluation, but I believe this year’s event was far better than the first and second editions,” she said.

Ni Luh emphasized that future improvements will not only enhance tourism in terms of the number of visitors but also boost local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Meanwhile, PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (InJourney) reported that the MotoGP event significantly boosted regional economic growth. The company recorded 44 additional flights and hotel occupancy rates reaching 100 percent.

InJourney President Director Maya Watono described the event as more than just a world-class race but also a strategic moment to showcase Indonesia’s tourism and cultural richness to the global stage.

“This year’s event was the best yet, marked by full hotel occupancy in Mandalika and collaborative efforts to increase flight availability due to high demand,” Maya said in a statement on Sunday.

She also highlighted the event’s role in celebrating local culture and wisdom, reinforcing Mandalika’s position as a destination for sport and entertainment tourism.
