KBRN, Bekasi Regency: Residents of Sukamurni Village, Sukakarya District, Bekasi Regency, West Java are troubled by the accumulation of trash in the village's irrigation channel. They fear the waste buildup could lead to environmental pollution and obstruct water flow.
The Bekasi Regency Administration, through the Environmental Agency, responded to residents' concerns by promptly cleaning the channel. The cleanup operation lasted two days, from April 13-14, 2024, utilizing one excavator, a four-person Amphibi Team, three Environmental Agency task force members, and three Sukamurni Village staff.
"As soon as we received complaints from residents, we immediately took action. Our team was deployed with heavy equipment to remove the trash," said Sudeni, the Bekasi Regency Environmental Agency Regional Waste Management Technical Unit IV Head, on Monday, April 14, 2025, as quoted by rri.co.id.
Sudeni explained that heavy machinery was necessary due to the large volume of trash and areas inaccessible for manual cleaning. Most of the waste consisted of household garbage and construction debris irresponsibly dumped by certain individuals.
"We are fully committed to maintaining environmental cleanliness. We hope residents will contribute by not littering in rivers or water channels," he added. ***
