KBRN, Sintang: A contingent of 450 soldiers from the 644/Walet Sakti Infantry Battalion was deployed on Thursday, April 3, 2025, to undertake duties securing the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border.

The soldiers departed from Dwikora Port in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The Chief of Staff of Korem (Kasrem) 121/Abw, Colonel Inf Mohamad Isnaeni, representing the 122/Abw Military Resort Commander (Danrem), oversaw their departure.

These soldiers will undergo a month of pre-deployment training at the Special Forces Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatpassus) in Batujajar, West Java, before being deployed to the operational area.

"During this training, the soldiers will train to face various scenarios, such as potential attacks on personnel, security disturbances at border posts, and threats to public facilities," said Colonel Isnaeni, as quoted by rri.co.id.

This training also aims to test the personnel's readiness to face diverse challenges in the field, encompassing mastery of combat tactics, intelligence gathering, legal procedures, and collaboration with local authorities.

"They are also equipped to coordinate with the National Police, regional government, and community leaders to maintain the region's stability," remarked the Commander.

Securing the border presents unique challenges, notably in preventing smuggling, the movement of separatist groups, and maintaining public order within the operational area.

"Depart in a state of readiness and vigilance. Dispel any notion that the duty area is safe, ensuring that your combat instincts remain sharp. Ensure that 450 depart and 450 return," he emphasized.

Consequently, soldiers must consistently uphold discipline, maintain professionalism, and execute their duties responsibly.

"Uphold the honor of a Tanjungpura soldier, always rely on God Almighty, and dedicate your best service to the nation and the state," he advised. ***
