KBRN, Yogyakarta: Social Affairs Ministry targets an extreme poverty rate of zero percent within the next two years, with a poverty rate target of below six percent in the next five years, Minister Saifullah Yusuf said in a press statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.

"We are targeting to reduce the current extreme poverty rate of 0.83 percent to 0 percent in the next two years. According to BPS, the overall poverty rate is 9.03 percent, and we hope to decrease it through collective hard works,” the minister added.

He said his office had social welfare data to be integrated with the population and family development data belonging to the Ministry of Population and Family Development.

“Later, all data from each ministry will be integrated by BPS under the guidance of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). After being checked individually and integrated, the data will be returned to both ministries,” Saifullah said.

Meanwhile, National Development Planning Minister Wihaji explained President Prabowo Subianto's directive was to eliminate ministry's sectoral ego and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation to support each other, particularly in improving the quality of human resources.

“We take care of everything from pre-wedding, pregnancy, toddlers, to the elderly. The spirit is to create golden generations,” said Wihaji.
