Lagu baru Lisa ini ditulisnya bersama Ryan Tedder, Sam Homaee, James Essien, Brittany Amaradio, dan Lucy Healey. Tedder dan Homaee juga bertindak selaku produser musik lagu tersebut.

Mengutip Variety, "Rockstar” menjadi proyek pertama Lisa bersama LLOUD, agensi manajemen artis yang didirikannya Februari lalu, bekerja sama dengan RCA Records. LLOUD merupakan label yang menangani aktivitas Lisa sebagai musisi solo.
