RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, expressed her appreciation to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Raw Vision Collective for their support in organizing international music concerts in Jakarta. She conveyed this appreciation while attending an event at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday September 15, 2026, underscoring the Ministry of Tourism's commitment to strengthening Indonesia's event ecosystem.
The Minister also emphasized that international music concerts serve not merely as entertainment but also as drivers of the tourism economy. The presence of musicians and fans from various countries, he said, creates extensive economic activity, ranging from ticket sales, accommodation, transportation, to culinary and other supporting sectors. "International music concerts do more than provide entertainment; they act as engines for the tourism economy," Widiyanti stated.
According to her, support for international music events is part of the "Event by Indonesia" program initiated by the Ministry of Tourism to bolster Indonesia's standing as a world-class event destination. "We present Event by Indonesia to strengthen the event ecosystem while creating a broader impact on tourism and the community, Minister Widiyanti said.
She cited the Ministry's support for the Andrea Bocelli and BTS concerts in Indonesia this year as examples of this strategy in action. "We want each event to go beyond just hosting the event, but also attract tourists, stimulate MSMEs, create jobs, and create added economic value," she said.
Data from the Ministry of Tourism indicates that between January and July 2026, 105 events received support through the "Event by Indonesia" program. The details consist of 18 national events, 10 international events, 61 Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN), 14 MICE events, and 2 other regional events. Impact assessment results indicate that these hundreds of events involved over 6.47 million visitors, 11,000 MSMEs, and more than 184,000 artists and community members, generating an estimated economic turnover of IDR 1.09 trillion.
Widiyanti believes this achievement demonstrates the enormous potential of events, particularly international-scale concerts, as a driver of tourism growth and a means of expanding Indonesia's exposure globally.
The Ministry of Tourism hopes that the momentum generated by hosting international music concerts will strengthen collaboration among the government, event organizers, industry players, and various stakeholders. "Indonesia has great potential to deliver world-class experiences," Widiyanti said
She stated that her team wants Indonesia to become increasingly recognized as an international event destination that offers not only natural beauty and culture, but also world-class experiences through various global-scale events.
