Dodola Island: a Peaceful Tropical Escape in North Maluku

Dodola consists of Dodola Besar and Dodola Kecil, separated by approximately 500 meters of water. During low tide, the islands become connected by a striking stretch of white sand.

The low-tide period lasts from around 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. local time. This natural phenomenon creates a unique landscape that allows visitors to walk between the two islands.

Visitors can enjoy soft white sand, crystal-clear seawater, gentle waves, and expansive blue skies. The serene scenery also creates a romantic atmosphere for couples exploring the destination together.

Dodola provides several activities, including snorkeling, swimming, and fishing. The local tourism authority also provides jet skis for visitors on weekends.

Cottages are available for tourists who want to spend the night on Dodola Island. Visitors are advised to contact the tourism office in Daruba before arranging overnight accommodation.

Electricity is not yet available on the island, although telephone signals are still available. Visitors should bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent, as small mosquitoes known locally as “agas” are common.

Dodola Island is accessible from Daruba through a boat journey of approximately 30 minutes. Visitors can rent a speedboat for the day while exploring nearby islands and their respective attractions.
