Morotai's Underwater World Offers Coral Reefs and WWII Relics

RRI.CO.ID, Morotai - Morotai Island offers remarkable underwater tourism, combining vibrant marine life, coral reefs, and World War II historical remains. Its surrounding waters invite divers to explore Indonesia's natural beauty while discovering traces of the island's wartime history.

Morotai has 28 recorded diving spots, with opportunities to discover additional locations across its surrounding waters. The sites offer diverse underwater landscapes, colorful marine life, and historical remnants from the World War II period.

One notable attraction is a sunken aircraft believed to be an Australian-made Bristol Beauford. The aircraft rests approximately 40 meters beneath the surface, offering divers a remarkable glimpse into wartime history.

Historical remains are also scattered across several diving areas surrounding Morotai Island. Wawama and Totodaku feature Allied aircraft and a jeep, while Mira offers an underwater shipwreck.
