RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Administration brought seven tourism industry players to the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) India 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India, September 1-3, 2026. This move was taken to encourage business-to-business (B2B) transactions with more than 400 international buyers in order to design more competitive travel packages for tourists from India.
Head of the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata, said that more than 100 exhibitors from various countries and 400 selected buyers were present at the event.
“The presence of these industry players is expected to strengthen business-to-business engagement. This step also opens opportunities for cooperation and the development of more competitive travel packages for Indian tourists,” said Andhika in a written statement on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
According to him, India is a highly potential and strategic market for Jakarta. He assessed that there is growing opportunity from the increase in Indian tourists and their interest in urban destinations.
Jakarta’s participation in ITB India 2026 is part of a collaboration with the Indonesia Ministry of Tourism through the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion. On this occasion, Jakarta presented seven selected co-exhibitors consisting of tour and travel industry players, star-rated hotels, and tourist attractions.
Through ITB India 2026, the agency is not only focused on introducing Jakarta as a tourism destination. This step is also aimed at building sustainable business relationships with India’s tourism industry.
Participation in this leading B2B tourism exhibition is Jakarta’s strategy to expand its global network and enhance the destination’s competitiveness. According to Andhika, this move also strengthens Jakarta’s position as a hub for business, MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions), and metropolitan lifestyle en route to becoming one of the Top 50 Global Cities.
As it enters its 500th year, Jakarta is not merely reflecting on a city’s long journey. This moment serves as a foundation to look toward the future as a global city that is open, competitive, and connected to the world.
Meanwhile, Head of the Marketing and Attractions Division at the agency, Lucky Wulandari, discussed promotion in the Indian market. This effort is expected to encourage an increase in visits by Indian tourists to Jakarta.
“We want Indian tourists to see Jakarta as a destination that is dynamic, safe, comfortable, and full of experiences. Jakarta has much to explore, from history and culture to culinary, shopping, entertainment, and MICE, which have interesting aspects that may not yet be widely known to Indian tourists,” said Lucky, as quoted by Antara.
Furthermore, she conveyed that strengthening the Indian market is part of Jakarta’s strategy to build closer ties with the global community. Lucky added that enhancing connectivity and expanding international networks are key to developing diverse tourism products. Through this step, Jakarta is optimistic it can increase its competitiveness at the global level.
“Jakarta 500 is not only about celebrating five centuries of history, but about taking Jakarta further as a competitive, sustainable global city that is increasingly known to the world,” said Lucky. ***
