RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - Indonesia's West Java Province is hosting a series of tourism and cultural events throughout August to celebrate Independence Month. The calendar features international sporting events, cultural festivals, music concerts, culinary showcases, and nature-based activities.

The festivities launched with the Cimaja Boardriders Open Pro Surf Competition in Sukabumi Regency. The international surfing competition runs from 1 August to 31 August and welcomes athletes from several countries.

Another surfing event, the Batukaras Surf Festival, will take place in Pangandaran Regency from 6 August to 9 August. The competition is expected to attract surfers from across Indonesia and abroad.

Bandung will also host several major events during the month. These include the Bandung QRIS Run, Pasar Kreatif Bandung, Gaia Music Festival, Bandung Great Sale, and the Flower City Festival.

Music lovers can attend Forestra in West Bandung Regency on 29 August. The forest concert will feature performances by Mahalini, Hindia, Iwa K, and composer Erwin Gutawa.

The City of Bogor will host Sunset di Kebun on 29 and 30 August. The music festival will feature Raisa, Tulus, Juicy Luicy, Perunggu, Nadin Amizah, and other Indonesian performers.

Other highlights include the Garut International Kite Festival, Family Art Month, Festival Pecunan, Nyawang Bulan, and Gebyar Kepariwisataan Ekraf. Several cultural festivals and sporting events will also take place across Bandung, Bekasi, and Majalengka.

The diverse event lineup reflects Indonesia's efforts to promote domestic tourism and the creative economy during the country's Independence Month. The festivals are also expected to attract visitors while showcasing West Java's cultural and natural attractions.
