Banyuwangi Strengthens Global Tourism Connectivity

RRI.CO.ID, Banyuwangi - Indonesia is strengthening Banyuwangi's position as an international tourism destination through improved air connectivity and global promotion. The initiative involves the Indonesian tourism holding company InJourney and airport operator Angkasa Pura in Banyuwangi on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Both state-owned enterprises will work with the Banyuwangi Regency Government to expand international tourism access. The partnership focuses on enhancing tourism events, destination promotion, and sustainable flight connectivity in which these efforts aim to attract more international visitors while strengthening the local tourism economy.
Banyuwangi Regent, Ipuk Fiestiandani, welcomed the collaboration with Indonesia's tourism and aviation sectors. She said stronger international promotion would improve the regency's competitiveness in the global tourism market.
Meanwhile, President Director of InJourney, Maya Watono, said Banyuwangi possesses strong potential as a world-class destination. She highlighted its natural landscapes, cultural heritage, local cuisine, and creative tourism management.
She said the partners will prepare a strategic roadmap to increase international tourist arrivals. The plan also seeks to improve domestic tourism flows through integrated destination development.
"We will jointly prepare a strategic roadmap to increase international tourist arrivals while encouraging a more balanced distribution of domestic travelers to Banyuwangi," she said.
President Director of Angkasa Pura, Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi, said stronger flight connectivity is essential for sustainable tourism growth. He added that additional air routes would be developed through collaboration with airlines and the Indonesian Government.
