RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Southeast Asia’s first high-speed rail operator, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), also known as Whoosh, urged prospective passengers to be wary of the rise in ticket booking scams via messaging apps, according to a written press release on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. KCIC urges the public to ensure that all Whoosh high-speed train ticket bookings are made exclusively through official sales channels.

This warning was issued following the discovery of a scam scheme impersonating the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail service. Criminals are using social media ads to direct prospective passengers to unofficial WhatsApp numbers and request payments to personal bank accounts.

This scam is believed to potentially target both domestic and international tourists who are not yet familiar with the official ticket booking process. Management emphasized that all transaction processes are conducted through an integrated system and never involve personal accounts.

“Various official Whoosh information can easily be copied and misused by irresponsible parties. Therefore, we urge the public not to rely solely on the logo, name, or schedule provided, but to always verify that the contact number and transaction channel used are official Whoosh channels,” KCIC General Manager of Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said.

The operator urges prospective passengers to always verify the authenticity of its official, verified communication accounts. In addition, the public is asked not to share personal information or click on suspicious links from unknown sources.

“If you encounter any signs of fraud, immediately stop all communication and transactions, save evidence of the conversation, block the number, and report it to the relevant platform and the Whoosh Contact Center. KCIC continues to enhance public education and monitoring regarding the misuse of the Whoosh name to help protect the public from potential fraud,” Eva said.

As a public transportation mode capable of speeds up to 350 km/h, Whoosh serves routes from Halim to Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar Summarecon. These efforts to strengthen digital education are aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of all users of this mass transit service.
