Govt Optimizes Industry 4.0 Technology for Digital-Based Disaster Mitigation

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Industry is accelerating the implementation of the Industry 4.0 transformation to ensure that digital technology adoption directly impacts the reinforcement of national disaster mitigation. This strategic policy integrates manufacturing productivity enhancement with innovative solutions for disaster risk management in Indonesia.

Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, emphasized that digital transformation must be oriented toward delivering tangible benefits for the wider community. "The most important component in the digital transformation process is the awareness of the benefits of using digital equipment, not just the ability to adopt technology, but it must be aligned with a shift in digital mindset," he stated, as quoted from the ministry's written press release in Jakarta on Monday, September 21, 2026.

The Indonesia Industry 4.0 Center (PIDI 4.0) is now optimized as a technology and digital hub for the manufacturing sector to respond to Indonesia's geographical vulnerabilities. This strategic institution has engaged at least 65 cross-sector partners to foster technological innovations for disaster prevention and emergency response.

Acting Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency, Adie Rochmanto Pandiangan, explained that PIDI 4.0 has partnered with local startups focusing on disaster solutions. "Regarding the field of disaster management, the Ministry of Industry's PIDI 4.0 has partnerships with two startups, namely TechnoGIS from Sleman, Yogyakarta, and BATARI Energy from Cimahi, West Java," Adie stated regarding the strategic collaboration.

This innovative partnership showcased flagship products such as disaster-affected area mapping drones and emergency portable energy devices at ADEXCO 2026 in Jakarta. This international exhibition serves as an essential platform to expand global business networks while introducing domestic disaster technology capabilities.

Aside from technological device innovations, the Ministry of Industry is also preparing human resource competencies through Polytechnic APP Jakarta under modern industrial vocational standards. The logistics management curriculum and technology mastery are designed to ensure the readiness of experts in managing post-disaster emergency supply chains effectively.
