BRIN, Denso Indonesia Develop Smart Manufacturing Systems

RRI.CO.ID, Cikarang - Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and PT Denso Manufacturing Indonesia are developing intelligent systems for smart manufacturing. The partnership agreement was signed in Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Thursday, 25 June 2026.

The partnership focuses on intelligent systems for material movement and product quality assurance. The initiative aims to improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness in Indonesia’s manufacturing industry through technological innovation.

The agreement was signed by BRIN’s Center for Manufacturing Technology and Production Machinery Research (PRTMMP) and PT Denso Manufacturing Indonesia. Head of PRTMMP BRIN, Mahfudz Al Huda, said the cooperation combines resources, expertise, and facilities from both institutions.

Mahfudz Al Huda said the partnership supports research and development of smart manufacturing technology. He explained that the collaboration will produce designs, engineering solutions, and prototypes for industrial applications.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration between researchers and industry players. The partnership is expected to accelerate technology implementation and strengthen Indonesia’s innovation ecosystem.

“The collaboration is aimed to produce designs, engineering, and prototypes of intelligent systems that support material mobilization and product quality assurance in manufacturing processes,” he said.

Perekayasa Ahli Madya of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Sasono Rahardjo, said the research covers industrial automation technologies. He explained that the development includes power systems, sensors, and intelligent control integration for manufacturing needs.

The cooperation also includes an indoor Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) traffic management system. The system manages routes, scheduling, multi-AGV coordination, and automatic collision avoidance to improve material flow and operational safety.
