RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang — The Indonesian Air Navigation Service Provider, AirNav Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strengthening satellite-based aviation navigation systems with the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) at AirNav Indonesia’s headquarters in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday, July 20, 2026.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by AirNav Indonesia’s President Director, Avirianto Suratno, and the Acting Head of BIG, Mohamad Arief Syafi’i. This agreement is a strategic step to improve the use of geospatial information or data connected to specific places on Earth to support air navigation services that are safe, accurate, efficient, and up to international standards.

AirNav Indonesia’s President Director, Avirianto Suratno, stated that this collaboration reflects AirNav Indonesia’s commitment to continuously improving air navigation quality using modern technology and precise data.

This partnership serves as a foundation for both organizations to collaborate on geospatial data. This includes real-time Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) correction data, education, training, research, and technology development. These details will be outlined in a formal Cooperation Agreement (CA). The MoU is valid for five years from the date of signing.

“Recently, GNSS signal interference has become a global concern for aviation. Through this collaboration, AirNav Indonesia is strengthening its technology, enabling more precise data processing, and working with BIG to make aviation navigation systems more reliable while maintaining safety and efficiency,” Suratno said.

Meanwhile, the Acting Head of BIG, Mohamad Arief Syafi'i, highlighted the growing importance of accurate location data in keeping air travel safe and reliable across the country. He explained how this new partnership will directly benefit national transportation.

“The collaboration between BIG and AirNav Indonesia marks a move toward providing faster and more accurate geospatial information. BIG is ready to support AirNav Indonesia by providing data, monitoring GNSS signals, and advancing technology to strengthen national air safety,” Arief said.
