RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Young football players in Indonesia received a boost on Monday, October 5, 2026, as FIFA and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) launched a grassroots development initiative designed to expand access to the sport and encourage greater participation among children.
FIFA, in collaboration with PSSI, inaugurated the new FIFA Arena at Mandiri University in West Jakarta while rolling out the FIFA Boots for All program on Monday. The initiative provided free football boots to elementary school students, underscoring efforts to expand grassroots participation in the sport.
“Thank you very much to PSSI for organizing this event and making it such an enjoyable occasion,” FIFA Project Manager for Member Associations, Tarek Serhan, said, as quoted by Antara.
PSSI Technical Director Alexander Zwiers expressed gratitude to FIFA for supporting the program and building the new facility. The Dutch official noted that the arena would encourage children to play football daily in their communities.
“Once again, FIFA, thank you for this outstanding pitch and for giving our future heroes in Indonesia the chance to play. This is a truly remarkable initiative, deeply appreciated by PSSI,” Zwiers said.
The event also featured appearances by global football legends Pedro Rodríguez of Spain and Dimitar Berbatov of Bulgaria, alongside Southeast Asian icons Widodo C. Putro (Indonesia), Noh Alam Shah (Singapore), Suchao Nutnum (Thailand), Zaquan Adha (Malaysia), and Patrick Reichelt (Philippines). ***
