Indonesian Ambassador Praises Athletes after Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesia’s Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini P. Sjahrir praised the national contingent after the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 concluded. She delivered her appreciation in Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

Kartini credited athletes, coaches, officials, and supporting institutions for Indonesia’s performance throughout the Games. She specifically highlighted coordination among the Chef de Mission, Indonesia Olympic Committee, and Ministry of Youth and Sports.

She said the collaboration helped Indonesia surpass its initial target of four gold medals at the continental event. Kartini also described the achievement as a strong foundation for improving athlete development and training.

She emphasized that the Asian Games experience provided valuable lessons for Indonesia beyond the competition itself. The ambassador said future progress would depend on continued athlete development, preparation, and training.

“The success of the Red-and-White team was closely tied to the hard work of all athletes, coaches, and officials, fully supported by close coordination and consolidation among the Chef de Mission (CdM), Indonesia Olympic Committee (KOI/NOC Indonesia), and Ministry of Youth and Sports,” she said.

Kartini also thanked the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and Indonesians who supported the national contingent. She reaffirmed the embassy’s readiness to support Indonesian athletes competing in sporting events across Japan.

“The Embassy of Indonesia in Tokyo and Indonesians thank and congratulate all the athletes, coaches, and officials who fought to bring honor to Indonesia. We at the Embassy of Indonesia in Tokyo are always ready to support Indonesian athletes in global sporting events in Japan, as well as in various other forms of cooperation,” she added.

Indonesia finished the Games with five gold, 11 silver, and 23 bronze medals. The 39-medal total placed Indonesia 16th in the final Asian Games standings.
