Indonesia’s Women’s Padel Team Secures Silver at Asian Games 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s padel doubles pair Fitriani Sabatini and Fadona Kusumawati clinched the silver medal at the Asian Games 2026 after falling to Japan’s Saki Tsukamoto and Kae Tokumoto in the final at Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center, Japan, on Saturday, October 3.

The Indonesian duo, known as Ani/Dona, battled for one hour and 55 minutes before conceding 3–6, 4–6.

“It was quite a dramatic match. In the first set we tried to find openings but lost, and in the second set we were leading 4–1 but couldn’t hold on. That’s part of the game,” Fitriani said after the match, as quoted by Antara.

The opening set saw Indonesia take the first point, but three errors allowed Japan to secure the game. Ani/Dona rallied to win the second game and briefly led 2–1, before the Japanese pair regained momentum to close the set 6–3.

In the second set, Indonesia surged ahead 4–1, only for Tsukamoto/Tokumoto to mount a comeback, equalize, and eventually seal the set 6–4. Fitriani admitted the Japanese pair’s greater experience proved decisive. “Overall we gave our best, but we have to acknowledge their experience was far superior,” she said.

Match statistics showed Indonesia collected 51 points compared to Japan’s 58. Ani/Dona landed 85 percent of their first serves, while Japan achieved 89 percent. Japan also converted a higher share of points from first serves, 60 percent compared to Indonesia’s 47 percent.

Despite the loss, Indonesia dominated the women’s padel podium. Alongside Ani/Dona’s silver, Beatrice Gumulya and Novela Putria secured bronze after a commanding 6–0, 6–0 victory over the Philippines’ Danna Abad and Joshea Malazarte. ***
