RRI.CO.ID, Aichi – Indonesia's men's volleyball team lost 1-3 to Vietnam in the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 classification match at Okazaki Central Park General Gymnasium in Aichi on Friday.
As reported by Antara, Indonesia started aggressively and took the initiative early in the match. However, Vietnam gained momentum to build an 11-8 lead before securing the opening set 25-19.
In the second set, Indonesia raced to a 6-1 advantage, but Vietnam fought back to edge ahead 17-16 midway through the set before closing it out 25-23.
The team coached by Reidel Toiran responded in the third set. Indonesia maintained a five-point lead at 14-9 and played with greater composure to win the set 25-21.
The fourth set was closely contested, with both sides level at 9-9 at one stage. A series of errors by Indonesia allowed Vietnam to pull away.
Three consecutive points helped Vietnam extend its lead to 21-17 before sealing the set 25-22 and securing a 3-1 victory.
The defeat leaves Indonesia to contest 11th place against Kazakhstan on Saturday.
The match ended 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 22-25 in Vietnam's favor as Hendra Kurniawan and his teammates concluded their classification campaign with one match remaining. ***
