RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia secured two places in the 2026 Asian Games canoe slalom finals, as Putu Santhi and Krisna Septiana advancing under the one-athlete-per-NOC qualification system at Yahagigawa Canoe Slalom Course, Japan, on Wednesday, September 30.
Putu secured a place in the women's canoe slalom final after finishing seventh in the semifinal, Antara reported.
She recorded a total time of 160.47 seconds after completing the course in 156.47 seconds and receiving a four-second penalty. The official results listed the Indonesian athlete as qualified for the final.
Qualification was not determined solely by overall semifinal rankings. Under the competition system, only the highest-ranked athlete from each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could advance to the final.
The rule was evident in Japan, where Aki Yazawa finished fifth and Haruka Okazaki sixth, but only Yazawa secured a final spot. India also had Pallavi Jagtap in eighth and Rina Sen in ninth, but only Jagtap advancing.
Thailand qualified Atcharaporn Duanglawa, who finished second, while her teammate Jaruwan Niamthong did not complete the race.
The result sent seven athletes to the women's final, representing China, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Indonesia and India, according to the official results.

Indonesia also secured a men's kayak slalom final spot through Krisna Septiana, who finished 15th in the semifinal at the same venue.
Krisna recorded a total time of 210.76 seconds after completing the course in 152.76 seconds and receiving 58 seconds in penalties. The official results listed him as Q, or qualified, for the final.
In the women's event, qualification was based on the highest-ranked representative from each NOC rather than overall semifinal position.
Japan finished first and third through Yuuki Tanaka and Kazuya Adachi, but only Tanaka advanced. China also had two athletes in the top four, but only second-placed Hu Zhaoshan qualified, while Quan Xin in fourth did not.
The same qualification pattern applied to Kazakhstan, Thailand, India and South Korea, which each had more than one semifinalist but advanced only their highest-ranked representative. As a result, Krisna earned Indonesia's final berth despite finishing 15th overall.
The official results listed 11 final qualification slots, but Mongolia's Odjargal Batsukh did not start the race, leaving 10 athletes with qualified status. ***
