Indonesia Dominates Asian Horseback Archery Championship Ahead of World Cup Prep

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's horseback archery team emerged as the overall champion at the International Horseback Archery Alliance (IHAA) Asian Greater Championship 2026 in Moscow, Russia.

"This achievement is very encouraging because we became the best in Greater Asia, which includes all of Asia as well as several European countries," said Triwatty, chairwoman of the Indonesian Horseback Archery division under the National Equestrian Federation (FN Pordasi), in a statement on Monday, as quoted by Antara.

At the tournament, held from Sept. 25 to 27, athletes under FN Pordasi delivered a dominant performance, winning seven gold medals, three silver medals and three bronze medals across the young rider, senior and junior categories.

Arsa Wening Arrosyad starred in the young rider category by winning three gold medals in the Raid 233, Tower 90, and overall individual competitions.

Meanwhile, Tio Fawaz Ananta contributed three gold medals in the senior category through the Raid 233 and Tower 90 events, as well as the overall individual title.

In the young rider category, Hammas Syauqi Syahid won one gold medal in the Hunt Track event and two silver medals in Raid 233, while also securing the overall individual title.

Indonesia's youngest competitor, Dzaakir Alhanif, competing in the junior category, contributed one silver medal in Hunt Track and three bronze medals in Raid 233, Tower 90 and the overall individual standings.

The results placed Indonesia at the top of the standings, ahead of host nation Russia and Kazakhstan.

Triwatty thanked the athletes and coaches for their hard work in bringing success to Indonesia on the international stage.

She said Indonesia's participation in the Moscow championship was not solely about reaching the podium but also about strengthening the country's position in the development of international horseback archery.

"This participation also helps strengthen friendship among member countries in the Greater Asia region," she said.

The IHAA Asian Greater Championship 2026 featured around 40 athletes from 12 countries: Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, China, Mongolia, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria and Singapore.

The championship contested three disciplines: Raid 233, Tower 90 and Hunt Track, also known as HBA Eventing. The event forms part of the IHAA continental competition structure, which covers America, Africa, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia and Oceania.

The international competition series also serves as part of preparations for the 2027 World Cup.

Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) chairman Marciano Norman praised the achievement, saying it demonstrated Indonesia's ability not only to compete but also to dominate on the international stage.
