Indonesia Claims Soft Tennis Bronze at Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesia’s soft tennis team won the bronze medal in the men’s team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games after losing 0-2 to hosts Japan in the semifinals on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Competing at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center, Indonesia had to concede to a stronger Japanese side. Although the team missed out on a place in the final, the result added another medal to Indonesia’s tally and provided valuable experience for the athletes competing at the Asian level.

Indonesian athlete, Bagus Angga acknowledged Japan’s superiority and said the team’s limited experience was one of the lessons they took from the match. He also said the team had a relatively short preparation period, with only around six months of training for the Asian Games.

“We have to acknowledge our opponents’ strength. I may still lack experience. Our preparation was also relatively short. We only had about six months of training to prepare for these Asian Games,” Bagus said.

For Bagus, competing in Aichi-Nagoya was also his first experience at a major multi-sport event such as the Asian Games. He said the opportunity had provided valuable experience for his career as an athlete.

“Yes, that’s right. This is my first time competing at the Asian Games as a multi-sport event,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Falevi said the team had given its best despite Japan putting in a stronger performance. He expressed his gratitude that Indonesia was still able to take home the bronze medal from the men’s team event.

“We have to acknowledge their superiority. Alhamdulillah, we won the bronze medal. We dedicate this medal to Indonesia and to our parents as the fruit of our hard work. Hopefully, it will make our parents proud and happy,” Falevi expressed.

The bronze medal in soft tennis added to Indonesia’s medal tally at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The achievement also provides valuable experience for the athletes as they continue to improve and prepare for future international competitions.
