Preparations for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia Enter Final Phase

RRI.CO.ID, Central Lombok – Preparations for the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 have officially entered their final phase. The InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Government, and relevant stakeholders directly inspected the readiness of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The inspection was carried out via a track walk as part of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 Discussion Forum series, serving as a platform for coordination and solidifying the commitment of all stakeholders to support a smooth event. During the track inspection, forum participants directly observed ongoing finishing touches on the circuit and supporting racing facilities ahead of homologation and the race event.

InJourney President Director, Maya Watono, explained that various improvements continue to be implemented for tourism development in The Mandalika. However, she emphasized that achieving this requires concerted efforts and a spirit of mutual cooperation among all regional and central stakeholders, ministries, institutions, and industry players.

Maya noted that during the discussion, various issues were evaluated and jointly resolved, including transportation connectivity. For the race week period, Maya stated that organizers recorded an additional 66 flights to and from NTB, nearly all of which utilize wide-body aircraft.

From the circuit perspective, progress continues toward FIM Grade A homologation. Civil works have reached 90% completion, backbone infrastructure stands at 80%, track painting is at 60%, and race electronics have reached 60%. Meanwhile, various other components such as electrical systems, fire protection, circuit storage, and common garages have achieved 100% completion.

Aside from physical track conditions, race electronics readiness is being reinforced through the refinement of operational support systems, including light systems, lap counters, digital flag controllers, video matrix walls, track CCTVs, and communication devices. MGPA President Director Ananda Mikola stated that track readiness and all supporting racing systems remain a primary priority ahead of homologation and race week.

"Today's track inspection is part of our readiness check ahead of homologation. We are ensuring that track maintenance, safety facilities, race electronics, and all supporting systems proceed according to requirements. Our target is not only to ensure the circuit is ready, but that all racing operations are fully prepared. Safety and compliance with operational standards remain our top priority," Ananda said.

International logistics transport has also commenced. Out of a total of 27 sea freight containers, 13 have already arrived, while five air freight flights are scheduled to arrive between October 5–6, 2026. Racing crews, Dorna officials, and riders are set to begin arriving in early October.

Beyond race operations, event readiness encompasses spectator mobility, security, and healthcare services. A total of 118 shuttle buses have been prepared for intra-area mobility from October 9–11, 2026, supplemented by 35 provincial government shuttle buses for external transportation.

In terms of security, ITDC has deployed 170 security personnel and 550 crowd control officers who will work in an integrated manner with relevant stakeholders. Medical preparedness for both race and non-race operations covers medical personnel and equipment, medical helicopters, referral services, and VIP Mini ICU requirements.
