2026 Futsal Ambassador Cup Unites Indonesians in Japan

RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo - The 2026 Futsal Ambassador Cup was held at Futmesse Omiya, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The event served as both a sporting occasion and a gathering for Indonesian citizens living in Japan.

The tournament, held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, was organized by the Indonesia Futsal Community with the support of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo. A total of 32 futsal teams made up of Indonesian citizens residing in the Kanto region took part in the competition.

Representing the Indonesian Ambassador, Counsellor for Information, Social and Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Iqbal Mohammad Amrullah, expressed his appreciation for the organization of the 2026 Futsal Ambassador Cup. He said the event could serve as a means of strengthening unity among Indonesians in Japan through sports, particularly futsal.

“This is a good moment, not only for sports but also as an opportunity for Indonesians in Japan to strengthen ties and reconnect with one another,” he said, as quoted from an official statement on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Iqbal said the growing number of Indonesians in Japan has encouraged the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo to continue promoting various activities that can strengthen ties among Indonesian communities. “With the increasing number of Indonesians in Japan, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo seeks to strengthen ties among all Indonesian communities through various cross-sectoral activities. These communities serve as the front line and partners of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo in carrying out its guidance, services, and protection functions while maintaining communication with the Japanese authorities,” he added.

He also reminded Indonesians in Japan to uphold Indonesia’s good reputation by complying with applicable laws and social norms. “We always urge Indonesians in Japan to maintain a positive image of Indonesia by complying with the laws and social norms while living in Japan. Work with full dedication and a high level of discipline. Bring honor to Indonesia!” Iqbal Amrullah stressed in his opening remarks at the 2026 Futsal Ambassador Cup.

Meanwhile, Indonesia Futsal Club Japan Coordinator Abdul Hakim expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo’s continued support for activities organized by the Indonesian community in Japan. “The 2026 Futsal Ambassador Cup is a gathering event for the Indonesian diaspora in Japan. It also serves as a recreational opportunity for our fellow workers living in the Kanto area,” he said.

The tournament used a group-stage system during the preliminary round, followed by a knockout system in the second round. In the final standings, Imperial Kantou finished first.

Daruma Gunma, Sedulur, and Jangkar followed in the subsequent positions. The winners received gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with trophies and consolation prizes.
