RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Instead of focusing on podium finishes, Indonesian young racer Muhammad Kiandra Ramadhipa is showing resilience through consistency in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup 2026.
His 11th-place finish in the second race of the San Marino GP at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Rimini, Italy, on Sunday, September 13, 2026, may not have been spectacular, but it marked an important recovery after failing to finish the opening race.
According to race data, Kiandra crossed the line just 1.828 seconds behind winner Carlos Cano, who clocked 26 minutes 39.528 seconds.
Starting from sixth, Kiandra struggled to keep pace and slipped to 13th before gaining two positions on the final lap after Sullivan Mounsey and Kiattisak Singhapong collided, Antara reported.
The result earned him five points, lifting his tally to 106 and placing him seventh in the overall standings.
The San Marino round also reshuffled the championship picture. Leader Benat Fernandes faltered with a 14th-place finish, while Ryoto Ogiwara (146 points) and Fernando Bujosa (135 points) tightened the chase.
Cano’s victory pushed him to fourth with 113 points, followed by Kristian Daniel Jr (110) and Fynn Kratochwil (108), just ahead of Kiandra.
For Kiandra, the bigger picture is clear: finishing the season in the top three is crucial to secure a spot in Moto3 2027. With two races left at Austria’s Red Bull Ring on September 19–20, the gap remains challenging but not impossible.
His current tally already surpasses last season’s total of 102 points, when he ended eighth overall.
Indonesia’s presence in the Rookies Cup has been growing. In 2025, Veda Ega Pratama finished runner-up, earning his place in Moto3 this year. Kiandra’s steady climb suggests that another Indonesian rider could soon follow, underscoring the nation’s rising profile in junior world racing. ***
