Jakarta Ready to Host FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has once again been given the honor of hosting an international football event through the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chairman Erick Thohir emphasized that Indonesia must fulfill its role as host responsibly.

He made the statement during the Roll to Glory FIFA ASEAN Cup Family Parade at Jakarta’s Hotel Indonesia Roundabout on Sunday, September 13, 2026, where the tournament trophy was introduced to the public.

Erick expressed appreciation for the support from FIFA, the Indonesian President, and the Jakarta provincial administration. “After hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup, now we will host the FIFA ASEAN Cup from September 25 to October 5,” he said.

Erick stressed that the tournament should serve as a major event for FIFA and a chance for Indonesia to showcase its capabilities as host. “We must be a good host, and hopefully the team will also deliver its best performance,” he added.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung echoed the sentiment, affirming the city’s readiness to support the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. “Jakarta is prepared to be a good host. We are positioning the city as a sports-friendly destination,” he said.

Pramono highlighted the importance of the tournament for Jakarta and pledged full support from the provincial administration.

He assured that safety and comfort for all participants would be prioritized. “The most important thing is that whoever plays in Jakarta feels safe and comfortable,” he noted.

Pramono also confirmed that transportation services would be fully supported, with additional assistance available if required. “If any other assistance is needed, we are ready to provide,” he added.

The FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 is scheduled for September 24 to October 5, featuring 14 teams -- 11 from Southeast Asia and three invited teams. Matches will be split between two divisions: Division One in Indonesia and Division Two in Hong Kong.

In Indonesia, games will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta and Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung. Hong Kong will host matches at Kai Tak Sports Park and Mong Kok Stadium.

Eight teams will compete in Indonesia, divided into two groups. Group A includes Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Bangladesh, while Group B features Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Pakistan. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
