Tennis Player Rifqi Fitriadi Leads Indonesia’s Bid at ITF M15 Bali

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia will rely on second seed Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi to lead its challenge at the fifth M-15 Amman Mineral Men’s World Tennis Championship 2026 at Bali Beach Country Club, Nusa Dua, Bali.

Rifqi is one of the host nation’s main hopes at the USD 20,000 (IDR 352,6 million) worth tournament, after three Indonesian players--Ethan David Zapp, Ethan Jake Frans and Kareem Abdul Hakim--failed to advance from the final qualifying round on Monday, September 7, 2026.

“I am quite satisfied with my performance in the final qualifying round against an international player like Stefan Menichella, who has greater technique, experience and a higher ATP ranking, yet I was able to put up a good fight,” Ethan Jake Frans said in a written statement as quoted by Antara.

The 14-year-old Ethan lost to US player Stefan Menichella 7-6(3), 3-6 after a two-hour, four-minute match.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Ethan David Zapp, who had just celebrated his birthday, lost to fourth seed Shanker Heisnam of India 2-6, 3-6 in about 90 minutes. He previously finished runner-up in the fourth M15 men’s doubles series with Rafalentino Ali Da Costa on Saturday, September 5.

Kareem Abdul Hakim also failed to advance after losing in straight sets to fifth seed Matthew Shearer of New Zealand, 2-6, 5-7. Ranked 1,923rd in the ATP rankings, Shearer maintained the pressure on 22-year-old Kareem despite the Indonesian’s aggressive approach in the second set.

With the qualifying results, Indonesia failed to add any players to the fifth M15 main draw through the qualifying route. Beside Rifqi, Indonesia has Anthony Susanto, Nathan Barki and Rafalentino Ali Da Costa in the main draw through wildcards.

In the men’s doubles, Indonesia is represented by Rafalentino Ali Da Costa/Ethan David Zapp, Ethan Jake Frans/M. Ragil Putra, Anthony Susanto/Yang Cheng Chen of Taiwan, and Kareem Abdul Hakim/Andrez Nech of Hungary.

The fifth M15 Amman Mineral Men’s World Tennis Championship 2026 features 32 players from 14 countries, including Indonesia. ***
