Indonesia's Sabar/Reza Advance to China Masters 2026 Round of 16

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s doubles shuttlers Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani advanced to the round of 16 of the China Masters 2026. Sixth-seeded Sabar/Reza defeated South Korean pair Kang Min Hyuk/Ki Dong Ju.

Sabar/Reza won in straight sets 21-18, 21-16 in 43 minutes. Their second meeting with Kang/Ki took place on Court 1 at Shenzhen Arena, China, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

After the match, Sabar Karyaman Gutama said he was grateful that everything went smoothly in the match. He added that throughout the match, he and Reza tried to maintain consistency in their playing pattern.

“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly in our first match at the China Masters. It was our second time facing them, and we tried to remain consistent with our playing pattern from start to finish,” he said.

Sabar explained that they had to maintain their focus throughout the match. According to him, breaking through the opponents’ defense, which was difficult to penetrate, required patience in attacking.

“We kept our focus throughout the match. We anticipated their defense, which was difficult to break through, so we remained patient in attacking and did not rush,” he added.

Sabar acknowledged that opportunities exist at the China Masters 2026, but emphasized that he and Reza will focus on giving their best in every match, taking it one step at a time.

“The opportunity is certainly there, and we want to do our best in every match. We don’t want to think too far ahead. One step at a time, hopefully it will bring a good result,” he concluded. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
