Young Indonesian Players Make Strong Impact at ITF M15 Bali

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian young tennis players continued to show promising progress on home soil at the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 Amman Mineral Men’s World Tennis Championship 2026 Series 4 in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Nathan Barki led the Indonesian charge by defeating Spain’s eighth seed Pablo Perez Ramos to reach the second round, while young men’s doubles pair Rafalentino Ali Da Costa/Ethan David Zapp advanced to the quarterfinals.

The 21-year-old Nathan defeated Perez Ramos, ranked 984th in the ATP rankings, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in a match lasting two hours and 14 minutes on Court D at Bali Beach Country Club.

“The first match is always difficult for every player. Although I led in the first set, my opponent responded well in the second set, and I even fell behind in the third set,” Nathan said in a statement on Tuesday, September 1, as quoted by Antara.

“However, with the training preparation I have gone through and the support from the spectators, I was able to stay focused and eventually finish my first match with a good result,” he added.

Nathan made a convincing start in the opening set, immediately taking control to lead 6-2. Perez Ramos responded in the second set, winning by the same score and forcing the match into a deciding set.

In the deciding set, Nathan fell 2-4 behind before raising his level and turning the match around to win 6-4.

Meanwhile, Rafalentino Ali Da Costa/Ethan David Zapp also produced a strong result by reaching the quarterfinals after defeating Raghav Jaisinghani/Udit Kamboj in three sets.

Rafalentino, 16, and Ethan, 17, lost the opening set 5-7 but fought back to win the second set 6-3 and force a super tiebreak. Playing more freely and with high motivation, the young Indonesian pair won the super tiebreak 10-4 to secure their place in the quarterfinals.

The result extended Rafalentino/Ethan’s positive performances after they also reached the second round in the first and second series of the tournament.

Indonesia’s other pair, Anthony Susanto/Ren Nakamura of Japan, were eliminated after losing to Nan Hsun Lin/Kai-i Wang. Anthony/Ren won the opening set through a tiebreak 7-6 (3), but the Chinese Taipei pair fought back to win the second set 6-4.

The match lasted one hour and 37 minutes on Court F before Nan Hsun Lin/Kai-i Wang won the super tiebreak 10-5. ***
