RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is sharpening its edge for the Asian Games 2026 by sending two climbers to test their skills at the World Climbing Series in Koper, Slovenia, on September 4–5. The event, which features only the lead discipline, offers both vital competition exposure and a chance to boost global rankings.

The Indonesian Sport Climbing Federation (FPTI) has selected men’s lead specialist Putra Tri Ramadani (Srondeng) and women’s climber Alma Ariella Tsany to compete individually.

Team manager Aries Susanti Rahayu said the Koper series is crucial not only for Asian Games preparation but also for maintaining Indonesia’s athlete quotas in future World Climbing seasons.

Currently ranked fifth worldwide, Srondeng is eyeing a breakthrough into the top three, while Alma, ranked 32nd, has strong potential to climb higher. Lead coach Amri set an ambitious target: a podium finish in the men’s individual lead.

Srondeng already made history in June by winning Indonesia’s first gold medal in men’s lead at the World Climbing Series in Prague. For Alma, the focus is on gaining more competition experience and confidence ahead of the Asian Games.

“We want our athletes to adapt to the intensity of international competition, so they keep pushing their limits on the wall,” Amri explained. ***
