RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian women's singles shuttler Jolin Angelia advanced to the round of 16 at the Polytron Pontianak International Challenge 2026 after her opponent, Ruzana, retired.

Jolin was involved in a closely contested match that went into the rubber game, with the score standing at 22-24, 21-19, 7-1. However, the match ended prematurely after Ruzana suffered an injury and decided to retire.

The match took place on Court 4 at the integrated sports hall GOR Terpadu, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The match lasted 62 minutes.

Jolin admitted she felt pressure in her first match at the Pontianak International Challenge 2026, making it difficult for her to display her best performance.

“This was my first match, and I felt some pressure, so I felt I could not play freely. I wanted to show more, and that may have put additional pressure on me,” she said after the match.

Jolin said this was not the ending she wanted for the match. She wished Ruzana well and hoped the injury was not serious.

“She was injured and could not continue, so she decided to retire. This was not the ending that either of us wanted, but I wish her all the best and hope the injury is not serious,” she concluded. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
