RRI.CO.ID, Monterrey - Tennis player Janice Tjen staged a comeback to defeat Dayana Yastremska at the Monterrey Open on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The Indonesian rising star prevailed 2‑6, 6‑3, 7‑6 (7‑5) to secure her place in the round of 16.

According to the WTA, Yastremska opened strongly at Club Sonoma, dominating the first set 6‑2. Janice responded by raising her level in the second, taking it 6‑3 to even the match.

The deciding set saw Yastremska break early and build a 3‑0 lead. Janice clawed back to 3‑4, then leveled at 4‑4 after capitalizing on an error from her opponent.

She broke again to move ahead 5‑4, but Yastremska struck back to tie 5‑5 and later led 6‑5. Janice forced a tiebreak by holding serve in the 12th game.

In the tiebreak, momentum swung back and forth. Janice led 5‑3 before a double fault allowed Yastremska to draw level at 5‑5. Janice then earned match point at 6‑5 when Yastremska’s shot went wide, and sealed victory 7‑5 after another error from the Ukrainian.

With the hard‑fought win, the Jakarta‑born player advances to the last 16 of the Monterrey Open.
