RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian women’s volleyball team will look to revive its campaign in the 2026 AVC Women’s Continental Championship after Thailand handed the Garuda Pertiwi a 3-0 defeat in their Pool B clash in Tianjin, China, on Monday, August 24, 2026.
Thailand immediately took control in the first set with a 4-0 lead. Indonesia managed to cut the deficit to 8-6, but Thailand pulled away again and maintained its advantage to close the set 25-16, Antara reported.
Entering the second set, Thailand again played aggressively and opened with a 4-0 lead. Indonesia fought back and briefly leveled the score at 7-7, but Thailand regained its rhythm.
Thailand extended the lead to 16-11, before Indonesia reduced the gap to 16-13, and then maintained its consistency and secured the second set 25-18.
In the third set Thailand once again started strongly, taking a 6-1 lead and maintaining the advantage at 10-3. Indonesia attempted to fight back and narrowed the deficit to 19-12, but Thailand remained in control and eventually closed the third set 25-15 to seal a 3-0 victory.
Match statistics showed Thailand’s Sasipapron Janthawisut leading the scoreboard with 16 points, followed by Pimpichaya Kokram with 12. For Indonesia, Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo contributed nine points, while Medi Yoku added eight.
Indonesia must maintain its chances in the Pool B standings by using its next match to return to winning ways. The Garuda Pertiwi will face Australia on Wednesday, August 26, at 2 p.m. Jakarta time. ***
