Indonesian Swimmer Wins Bronze as Indonesia Adds Second Medal in Guiyang

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian young climbers are strengthening the country’s presence in Asia’s youth climbing scene, with Laksamana Krido Swarnabhumi winning a bronze medal at the World Climbing Asia Youth Championship Guiyang 2026 in China, Monday, August 24, 2026.

Laksamana Krido secured third place in the U17 men’s speed event after recording 5.43 seconds in the bronze medal race, his personal best time, Antara reported. The result marked his first medal and podium finish in an Asian-level climbing championship.

The Central Java-born climber began competing actively in 2024. He previously competed at the IFSC Youth Asian Championships Jamshedpur 2024 in the boulder and lead events.

Laksaman Krido’s bronze brought Indonesia’s medal tally to two, consisting of one gold and one bronze. The gold medal was previously won by Ardana Cikal Damarwulan in the U17 men’s boulder event.

Indonesia also fielded two athletes in the U17 women’s speed event: Naura Jasmine Rayya Syafiqa and Keyzia Queenme Candley Riwoe.

Naura started the qualification round in seventh place after recording 8.89 seconds and 7.833 seconds, while Keyzia ranked 10th with 8.326 seconds and 8.516 seconds. In the quarterfinals, Naura recorded 7.84 seconds, while Keyzia clocked 8.55 seconds. Neither athlete advanced to the medal round.

The World Climbing Asia Youth Championship Guiyang 2026 has one day of competition remaining, featuring men’s and women’s speed relay events for the U17 and U19 age groups.

The Indonesian Sport Climbing Association (FPTI) sent 13 young athletes to compete in the championship. The Indonesian contingent consists of six male and seven female athletes competing in the U17 and U19 categories. Indonesia is competing in 14 of the 16 events contested.

This year’s championship also features the speed relay event, which is being included in the Asia Youth Championship program for the first time. ***
