RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) is expanding its national team roster for the Asian Games 2026 by calling up all diaspora players, alongside naturalized talents, to strengthen the Garuda squad.
Perbasi Secretary-General Nirmala Dewi confirmed the move in Palembang on Friday, August 21, 2026. “All diaspora players have been called up for the Asian Games 2026,” she said, as quoted by Antara, underscoring the federation’s intent to maximize Indonesia’s global talent pool.
She added that naturalized athletes are also included in the selection list, with Derrick Michael Xzavierro among the confirmed names. His presence is expected to deliver significant contributions and elevate Indonesia’s performance on Asia’s biggest sporting stage.
Nirmala explained that Perbasi has carefully designed preparations to ensure both physical and tactical readiness. At the same time, she emphasized a pragmatic approach to expectations. “For the target, of course we hope for the best.
