RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Anthony Susanto strengthened his bid for the title at the 2026 UTR PTT Amman Men’s World Tennis Championship in Bali after securing his second straight victory on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, keeping him atop Group A.
Anthony defeated Kareem Hakim 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) in a closely contested match at the Bali Beach Country Club, Nusa Dua, Bali.
“Hard work that resulted in a victory is something to be grateful for, although there are still aspects that need evaluation, particularly game consistency,” Anthony said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 18, as quoted by Antara.
Playing on Court F, Anthony dominated the opening set, dropping just one game to win 6-1. His performance, however, dipped in the second set. A series of unforced errors allowed Kareem to apply pressure and level the score at 6-6, forcing the match into a tie-break.
Anthony, who has strong experience and competitive composure, remained calm in the deciding phase and ended Kareem’s challenge by winning the tie-break 7-2.
With two victories, Anthony currently leads Group A. He has two matches remaining to determine his final position in the group, against Arjune Pandit and Jake Dempo.
Meanwhile, another Indonesian player, Nathan Barki, withdrew from his Group D match against Singapore’s Maximus Zavier Wong after a recurring wrist injury flared up.
Nathan’s withdrawal has strengthened United States player Azuma Visaya’s position at the top of Group D after he secured another victory, defeating Australia’s Thomas Patton 6-3, 6-3.
In another Group B match, United States player Alexander Chang also temporarily leads the standings with two victories. Chang previously defeated Abhishek Batola and continued his winning run on Tuesday by beating Igor Kolaric 6-2, 6-1. ***
