RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s men’s singles shuttler Alwi Farhan showcased the importance of preparation as he secured a place in the second round of the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi, India.
Competing at the Indira Gandhi Arena on Monday, August 2026, Alwi defeated South Korea’s Yoo Tae Bin in straight games, 21–17 and 21–12. “I had more than a week to study the draw, and that was good for me. I anticipated his moves and knew exactly what he would try to do," he explained, Monday, as quoted by Antara.
Ranked world No. 12 and seeded 11th in the tournament, Alwi stressed that readiness is crucial in such a major event. “The World Championships are sacred. I believe only those chosen by God, with all their hard work, can become champions. I am trying to make myself worthy of being there,” he said.
In the next round, Alwi awaits the winner between Finland’s Joakim Oldorff and Vietnam’s Le Duc Phat. For now, his focus is on recovery rather than analyzing his potential opponents.
“Tomorrow is a rest day, but I need to pay attention to my mindset, mentality, determination, and also take care of my body, diet, and sleep,” he concluded.
Alwi’s disciplined approach underlines how preparation and stamina management are as vital as technical skill in badminton’s most prestigious tournament. His journey reflects Indonesia’s continued strength in the men’s singles badminton discipline, where resilience and readiness often define success on the world stage. ***
